Retiree Health Insurance Credit Program (RHIC)

Overview

  • Pursuant to N.D.C.C. 54-52.1-03.2, your employer contributes 1.14 percent of your gross monthly salary to the RHIC program.
  • You are eligible to receive a RHIC benefit at the time you apply for ongoing retirement benefits as a member or surviving spouse, if eligible, with NDPERS.
  • This program provides members with a specific calculated benefit amount available for reimbursement in retirement years up to the amount of retiree’s eligible health insurance premium expenses.
  • Members that are contributing to TIAA with the North Dakota State University System or the Teachers Fund for Retirement (TFFR) are not eligible for RHIC.
